Low Profile Vice serrated jaw close up view

Serrated Gripper Jaws

The 75mm (3in) wide pre-hardened steel gripper jaws secure your workpiece, holding on just 3mm (⅛in) of material. The serrated tooth profile bites directly into the workpiece, generating significantly higher gripping force than standard smooth jaws, delivering a more secure hold during CNC milling/CNC routing operations. Less material is consumed in the clamping area, reducing wastage and lowering material costs across small batch runs.

Applicable materials include: Hardwoods, Engineered Timbers, Composites, Plastics such as HDPE and Delrin and non-ferrous metals like aluminium, brass and copper.

Smooth Step Jaws

The included serrated gripper jaws are fully reversible, quickly converting the aggressive serrated gripper teeth into a smooth step jaw without the need for additional jaw sets. The smooth face provides a precise and consistent seating reference for clamping pre-finished parts, marking-sensitive materials, or soft workpieces where surface damage would compromise the final result. This dual-purpose jaw design gives desktop CNC machine and hobby CNC router users two distinct workholding configurations from a single set of jaws reducing overall ownership costs.

Soft Jaw Compatible

The integrated M6 mounting holes in both fixed and movable jaws allow the Low Profile Vice support custom soft jaws, enabling users to utilise the same industry-standard second operation machining techniques found in professional CNC machining settings.

Custom soft jaws eliminate the guesswork from part registration, delivering accurate and repeatable workholding for second-op CNC milling operations, batch production runs, and multi-operation CNC machining on a compact desktop CNC machine.

Soft jaw blanks are available from the store but you can you can machine your own from aluminium stock or 3D print them using the STEP file available to download on this page.

Large Capacity

The Profile Vice delivers a large clamping capacity within a compact footprint, purpose-built to fit the work envelopes of the widest possible range of desktop CNC machines and CNC routers. The space-efficient design keeps more of your wasteboard accessible for multi-use fixturing while the generous jaw opening accommodates a wide range of stock sizes — making it one of the most versatile compact CNC vice options available.

Applications

FAQ's

Yes. The pre-hardened serrated jaws grip non-ferrous metals securely. Use appropriate feeds, speeds, and lubrication (if available) for your machine's spindle power and rigidity.

The Low Profile Vice fits any desktop CNC machine or CNC router with a wasteboard hole pitch of 75–100mm (3–4 inches). This includes popular machines such as the Carbide 3D Shapeoko and Nomad, Inventables X-Carve, Carvera Air, Makera Z1, FoxAlien, Genmitsu, and the Millennium Machines Milo - as well as any custom wasteboard within that pitch range.

You can machine our pre-made Soft Jaws (or 3D print) a pair of jaws that nest perfectly around your part's first-op profile. This lets you flip the part and machine the second side with accurate, repeatable registration. The exactly process professional machine shop shops use on full-size machines, now scaled for your desktop CNC.

Yes we make a Work Stop for the Low Profile Vice specifically for repeatable part positioning when running small production batches.

Yes the Low Profile Vice can be used with a t-Slot table but take care when tightening down the mounting bolts. Wide t-slots can cause the vice to bow if the mounting bolts are over-tightened. Narrower t-slots, 8-12mm do not cause this issue and the mounting bolts can be tightened as usual.
